Over the last year, many customers have expressed doubts to us about the future and development possibilities of the application. Some people certainly felt the lack of new features we were introducing to the product, the other half probably felt that we were introducing too many of them. Therefore, starting in the new year, we decided to open the application code to business customers, providing full access to application modifications on an open source basis. What does this mean for business?
In this way, TaskBeat becomes the first, fully mature and recognized workflow management platform that can be freely configured and implemented within your own infrastructure. These two functionalities were particularly appreciated by our customers in previous periods.
One of the most important assurances we made last year was optional updates, thanks to which we allowed our customers to freely choose which version of the application they prefer, with the option of updating it themselves at any time. Only the freedom to choose the version is of great importance for business, especially when critical functionalities are constantly changing. Thanks to the option to choose the version, customers who have previously used other services have finally been able to bypass certain updates that other service providers introduce obligatorily, and which conflict with the way a given business would like to use them and the way it is accustomed to using them.
Analyzing conversations with customers this year, we decided to go even further, putting customer needs first and giving control over the entire application. Thus, customers have the right to access the source code and perform their own compilations and installations, and above all, allow any modifications. Interestingly, modifications to the source code were possible and used by customers last year, but so far, customers with the enterprise version only received unlimited access to the appearance (the so-called front-end) of the application. The ability to modify the front end allows customers to change the appearance of the application, but functionalities related to data management in this way were still not available for any modification.
Today, we are giving control over the entire application by making all the code available to all Enteprise customers with the right to unlimited installation and modification as needed. At the same time, as part of the Enterprise plan, we currently offer full support to business customers in modifying applications, as well as building their own integrations or add-ons. Additional services include support for programmers in writing add-ons as well as modifying the code. Support is offered in the form of providing additional documentation or providing additional consultations. The typical cooperation scenario that customers most often expected is a one-time implementation on the customer's servers with the transfer of control over product customization directly to the customer's development team.
This scenario is typically completely excluded in the model of most or almost all competitive services, causing customers to become completely dependent on a given product, as well as the changes that service providers introduce to their products almost every day. We are even more pleased to try to be the first to provide customers with the optional opportunity to take control of this software development process and maximize the return on investment in a customizable product.
